Thank you for replying with the status of the issue and the required information. Sorry for a delay in response.

Lets try the following steps and check if it helps:

Step 1: Uninstall USB 3.0 software from control panel and check:

Uninstall, change or repair a program

Step 2: Uninstall all Universal serial bus controllers.

a) Press Windows and X keys on the keyboard together and select Device Manager.
b) Locate the Universal Serial Bus Controller and expand the driver icon.
d) Right Click on all the USB driver icon and select Uninstall.
e) Restart the computer. After restarting the computer, USB driver will automatically be installed.

Step 3: Remove all the ghost drivers from device manager and check if it helps:

a) Press Windows and X keys on the keyboard together and select Device Manager.

b) Go to the View menu and select Show hidden devices

c) Locate faded icons, and delete these ghost drivers.

Step 4: Start command prompt as admin and Run the DISM tool, check if it helps:

a) Press Windows and X keys on the keyboard together

b) Click on Command prompt(Admin)

c) In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scan health

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restore health

d) To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.

Step 5: If the issue still persists follow the steps below to show ghost devices in device manager:

a) Press Windows and X keys on the keyboard together

b) Click on Command prompt(Admin)

c) Copy paste the following command or type the same in command prompt:

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

Step 6: If none of the steps helps, repair the windows 8.1 Operating system.
