The CD that comes with your Netgear wireless router includes a wizard that makes installation easy, but you don't need it to install the router in your business. If your CD has become lost or broken, Netgear's control panel is still available to computers that are physically connected to the network. From this control panel, you can set up your wireless network, add security protocols, change the administrator's password and view devices that are currently connected to your network.

Connect the wireless router to your modem with an Ethernet cable plugged in to the 'Internet' or 'Line In' port. Connect your router to your computer with an additional networking cable from one of the numbered ports on the back of your router. Later, once the router is configured, you can disconnect it from your computer. Plug the router into a power source and press the power button.

Open your browser and navigate to the following IP: http://www.routerlogin.net. Log in with the default username 'admin' and password 'password.'

Click the 'Wireless Settings' link from your router's dashboard to change settings. To change the name of your network, type in a new value in the 'SSID' field. Choose a security option from the list, such as WEP or WPA, to secure your network against intruders and require a password for access.

Tips
